best cluster size for a new hard drive

4096 or is bigger better?
the hard drive in question is a new 80 gig seagate

For NTFS cluster size?

4096 is generally the "best". It's the smallest you want to use for performance, and it's the biggest some diagnostic/defragmentation software will work with.

The default 4K size is good enough for most stuff. The other sector sizes are there only for some very specific applications.
