Formatting problems.

Thu Jan 30, 2003 12:33 pm

I installed an IDE controller and a new HDD, everything is fine except the fact that I can only format that new drive in NTSF....and I want FAT32. It's a Western Digital 80GB 8MB, IDE controller is for the extra HDD...have 3 now. The slow (old) one is connected to the controller and the 2 fast ones are connected togheter.
I tried to format in XP and it only gave the option NTSF...then I tried it with the bootdisc and it only gave NTSF as well.

Just use a win98 bootdisk and run fdisk to format it with FAT32.

Enter the control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management and go to the disk management part. You should be able to format it in FAT32 there. Starfalcon's reply about a Win98 bootdisk is correct as well, though :)
