Thermaltake BlacX5G Firmware upgrade not recognize

There is a firmware upgrade on the Thermaltake website for the
Thermaltake BlacX 5G ST0019U.

UASP update.zip

It enables USAP in usb 3.0 which makes a BIG difference in speed!
If your motherboard supports it also. My Asus X79 sabertooth does.

But the MP TOOL program does not recognize my BlacX 5G so I can not
upgrade it to use the much faster protocol.

I've plugged it in usb 3 and 2. With and without drives.
Computer sees it but the update program does not.

Has anyone been able to upgrade their "BlacX 5G ST0019U -A1007001105" ?

Thanks,

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, I have tried everything I can think of but the firmware update tool does not list the device as it shows in the instructions included with the update :(

I'm sure it is something stupid/simple I am missing, did you manage to figure this out?

Regards

No, darn it.
Heh, I had hoped that you had. :)
At least I'm not alone in this.
I'm starting to think that the update tool is faulty.

Some revisions of the Thermaltake BlacX 5G have the JMicron JMS539 chipset, which does not implement UASP. Do this to double-check:

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" tree.
3. Find and open the "USB Mass Storage Device" instance for the Thermaltake BlacX 5G.
4. Click the "Details" tab.
5. Choose "Hardware Ids" in the "Property" pulldown.
6. If "USB\VID_152D&PID_0551" is in the "Value" field, then you have a JMicron JMS529.

If the MPTool.exe firmware utility does not recognize an Asmedia ASM1051 part, then try FwUpdateTool_v1_17_06.exe instead. The latest firmware version is the JMS529_PM_255.31.3.41.22.BIN file, which you can get at the Station-Drivers web site.

Note that the JMicron reference firmware for their USB3 bridge chip does not recognize anything except a single USB3 port on a single slot; eSATA ports and secondary slots are not recognized.

Darn, My PID is 0539.
At least I know I can give up on it.
Thanks,
