I was wondering if someone could explain the differences of a western digital black hard drive and a western digital caviar black hard drive.

I don't think there is... I think they dropped the Caviar from the naming of the drives.

They go by colors mostly -- their RE4 drive is unofficially called a "yellow" -- but yes, the "Caviar" name is gone, thankfully, because it was always stupid.
