FYI, OP in order to boot off that GPT partition, you are going to need some kind of boot loader that supports GPT. The boot loader used in older OS (Pre-Vista era) and classical BIOS do not support GPT.
Fortunately, GPT support is part of the UEFI spec. Most current RAID/Disk controllers support GPT booting in the event that you want to use a 3TIB+ HDD as a bootable device on an older system. There are also software-based solutions too (LILO/GRUB).
