Free Cloning Software

Hello. I have a few questions I need clarified and this is the best place for the answer for sure

My sister in law had a problem with her PC, the SSD died (did not appear in BIOS or even connected to another PC) so as it had a 3 year warranty from Corsair I send it to RMA. It has already arrived, not sure if it is new or a refurbished but its here so, good news :)

Now, originally the PC had this SSD (a Corsair Force F60) and a 320Gb backup drive (maybe a Toshiba 2,5" which I got from a dead laptop). When the SSD died, I installed the OS in the backup drive so she could continue to use the PC, but now I want to put everything like it was before.

My question is, should I reinstall Win 8 in the SSD as I normally do or can I clone all the info from the other drive to the SSD? Is it doable or troublesome? Any tips?

Thank you once again.

This is what I use. It costs 5 dollars to download, or you can get a free version from the previous release. It is free software, so this is should still be fine, but donate to them if you enjoy it!

I have a software in a CD called Partition Magic 8 so I believe. I use it to secure erase my SSD's. Is it the same thing?

PM8 can copy partitions and drives but seems dated and can be affected by security settings in the OS. It would probably be better to use the built-in drive imaging feature in Windows.

I've had good luck with Miray products.

The built in Windows 8 recovery tool lets me do this? I'll try it then thanks for the tip

Just so you now, I only opened the box right now and they have sent me a new drive, a Corsair Force LS, which is Sata 3, 60GB also. Free upgrade I think :) Good guys Corsair, happy costumer :D
