Linux on Desktop?

Oh my god someone said Linux on a Window Board. I'm familiar with Linux enough to have valid opinions. I work with Linux at work however I can't/care enough to install Linux on my home computer. I'll I see it doing is wasting HD space. Everything I need to do is done in Windows. I don't really see why people like Linux so much. My theory is that their bias SOB's towards Microsoft. Sure Linux is free, but so what it still lacks software support, and the fact that you do somethings faster such as programming. Still I don't think that it will replace Windows for the desktop.
