XP PROBLEM

Mon Sep 09, 2002 10:32 am

We actually my wife is experiencing the lovely windows has recovered from a serious error message, from the minidump (C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini012402-02.dmp) that windows was supposed to have fixed, she has gone to the windows knowledge base and downloaded the patch but the warning still comes up every time she restarts. We also tried manually to reset the file system but to no avail. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Nvidia

Mon Sep 09, 2002 10:39 am

Hi. My mate Andy thinks this could be down to dodgy Nvidia drivers. Do you have an Nvidia graphics card, and if so, try downloading the latest "official" drivers, which can obtained from http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_30.82 Write back in to tell us how you went on. Also, incompatible software such as Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 can cause such problems which you are experiencing. Cheers, hope we've helped.

Worst case, just put your xp cd in and run the repair on it. you wont lose anything. If that doesnt work, then u fubar. Format, reinstall.

The problem is that some file left a flag for a minidump on and windows keeps saying that it occured when there is no real problem. If she leaves the send... dont sent error report box up for about ten minutes then hits dont send the box disappears but will bw back on restart. Its just very annoying.

While I understand using Windows XP is a religious experience for some, I'm not sure why this post is in the Religion & Politics forum... ;)
