Office XP Academic Version

Thu Sep 12, 2002 1:05 pm

This seems to me like a good way to get Office XP on the cheap (I even qualify, as I have a kid in kindergarten). The M$ site talks about not offering upgrade pricing for the next version; that I understand given the price on the Academic version. What isn't discussed, and what I would like to know, is: Will Office XP Academic connect to the OfficeUpdate website and implement bugfixes, Service Releases, and the like? I'm assuming that answers will not rely on registry hacks or other skullduggery.

To those who've noticed I'm asking a lot of newbie type questions, I'm just the type who likes to know all the answers before purchasing. I don't like unpleasant surprises.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Same exact product as the none Academic versions - just licensing scheme is a bit different - wouldn't effect home user usage. Can still auto update and all the good stuff.
