Boot is very slow!

Sat Nov 09, 2002 11:33 am

I just put a new system together. When I turn on the pc or reboot, it goes thru the normal process and shows the Windows logo with the bar at the bottom moving (showing it is loading), then the screen goes black for 30-40 seconds before it displays the desktop.

Here is what I have:
Asus P4PE
2.53 Ghz
512 Meg Corsair XMS 3200
Albatron Ti4200p Turbo
Western Digital 100 Gig w/8 meg cache
Lite-On DVD
Lite-On Burner

I had a G4 420MX card in the pc when I first put it together a couple weeks ago. I don't remember for sure but I don't think it did that then.
I will try changing the detonator drivers to an older version, I have a newer 40.?? installed right now.
If that doesn't work I am not sure what to try next.
Any help would be appreciated!

Did you load the ASUS My Logo when you first set up your machine?
I have 2 systems running that mobo with 0 problems as you can see one of them in my sig, also try the 30.82, 30.87whql or 31.00 drivers. The 30.87 ones are from Windows Updater in windows.
P4 2.4@ 3.0 Asus P4PE, Corsair PC3200, Leadtek Ti4600, WD 80gig SE, Turtle Beach Sound, Enermax Power

Thanks eric
I tried uninstalling the drivers and when it rebooted I checked the device manager and it had a ! beside the nvidia Ti4200 ........ no matter what drivers I installed it wouldn't go away.... said I had a problem with that device.
I finally rebooted into safe mode and uninstalled it, apparently it wasn't uninstalling everything in regular widows mode.
When I restarted the pc....windows detected it and installed the drivers and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for the help! :D
