Apple's Safari?

Wed Jan 08, 2003 12:21 am

By now probably a lot of people have heard about Apple's new browser. They put it against browsers like Chimera, NS, and IE. Why not Phoenix or Mozilla? I want to see the specs on that comparison. I have no doubt that Phoenix or Mozilla will prove to out perform Apple's new little toy. What are you thoughts guys?

Running Mozilla on a Windows platform has different results than a Linux platform. When I tried Mozilla in the past, it actually performed slower in some activities than IE (on a Win2KPro system).

If there is a Mozilla coded for Apple hardware, you might get a fair comparison -- otherwise, it's apples and oranges.

Safari is based on KHTML which is part of the KDE for Linux.

I actually prefer using Konqueror (which is also based on KHTML) on Linux over Mozillla. It has better integration and performance.

I kinda hope Apple will release Safari for Windows, at least just to see how it works. They'll probably just tell us to go buy an Apple so we can run it, though:(

Yeah I don't see Apple releasing Safari to PC really ever. Steve Jobs is very picky he would probably it be just an Apple thing forever, but that's just him ;-)
