I am helping a friend with a problem they have with windows 98. This is a OEM computer that is basically a P3 500 with no intergrated video or sound. The cdrom drives of the computer are not recognized because the secondary IDE controller is shown as missing drives. I tried to update the drivers from the .cabs files in the windows directory but the driver is not found. If I try to find it in a list of devices every device is not the right match. The IDE busmaster controller is shown on device manager as a 82371 with some other letters. Is this technically a 820 chipset? If so which driver from the intel website could I use? All I could find is a INF utility and a few UDMA updates.
