WinXP bootup problem

Thu Jan 30, 2003 12:35 pm

My dads PC rebooted out of itself (it ran perfect btw), now every time I start it up it asks if I want Safe mode or Last working configuration.
No matter what I pick the system reboots again.
I tried to boot with the WinXP bootdisc but it keeps on hanging on loading the Kernel.debugger........any ideas?
HDD faillure? Power supply faillure?

tried to boot from bootdisc but it hanged...also has XP and no Norton AV.

8) In WinXP the default action upon an error is to reboot, on eo fthe first things I always change on a WinXP machine. Basicly you're probably best to stick the CD in and choose either repair or install. It is possible to manually extract the last truly working backup from Recovery Console BUT again this is NOT easy nor quick to do. If you're running FAT32 on a large HD or partn then take a serious look at NTFS, only keep FAT32 if you need full OS compatability for all your data.
