I think you could probably consider XP as 2000 SE, being that 2000 is NT 5.0 and XP is NT 5.1.

I think that it is LongHorn, although some people still know it by the old codename.

Longhorn is on target for 2004. Windows 2003 for Enterprise Workstations will be WinNT Workstation 5.2, but it's not a mainstream release. Longhorn/XP SE will be NT 6.0.

Note we're just playing with semantics here...

Longhorn could be considered the "second edition" of WinXP, the same way WinXP could be considered the "second edition" of Win2K.

WinNT 5 (Win2K)

No, WinXP would be Win2K SE. He's asking for WinXP SE, which would be Longhorn.

that's what i'm saying, chief.

newbie_of_jan0502 asked if WinXP wasn't already 2nd edition, to which fc34 asked 2nd edition of what...my answer to his question is WinNT5. I was already saying WinXP was more or less WinNT5 2nd edition. :D Nice try though.

I saw how Longhorn looks, too. Take all the fruit from the XP GUI and put it on it's own CD...

Bad :-)
And Forge is right, I've seen it too.
Besides Longhorn is not, and I repeat is not, Windows XP SE or whatever. It's a whole new Windows (with a whole new db driven filesystem).
There will not be a Windows XP SE.

Oh, if you want to know what Forge means, I dug up this: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/longhorn_alpha.asp
It's planned for a late 2004 release.
