Windows 7 Crashes During Video Driver Initialization

Postposted on Mon Jan 03, 2011 11:40 pm

This post is for posterity in case someone ever comes across this same problem.

I recently built a complete new system. The video card was a Radeon 5770 attached to an old Viewsonic VP920B LCD monitor. Using the DVI connection caused Windows 7 to crash when Catalyst driver version 10.12 loaded. Swapping to the D-Sub VGA connector fixed this problem.
If your cause is just and good, argue that it is just and good, not just inevitable.
