Hello everyone.

This thread is in response to the conversation seen here. Basically, I could not find a thread containing useful keyboard shortcuts for Windows, so I decided to put one together for TR users.

To simplify things, let's only focus on shortcuts that definitely work with Windows 7. They might have worked in previous Windows releases as well, but I figure that 7 covers the most people, and these shortcuts are likely to remain useful for some time. In addition, let's limit specific applications to Microsoft Office basics (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and shortcuts that work across multiple programs within Windows so this thread stays on topic. Please feel free to add your own!

Abbreviations
Windows Key = WK
Up Arrow Key = UA
Down Arrow Key = DA
Left Arrow Key = LA
Right Arrow Key = RA

Basics
Alt + F4 = closes the current window
Alt + Tab = switches to the next window (holding Alt will show you all open windows before switching)
Alt + Shift + Tab = switches to the previous window
Ctrl + Shift + Esc = opens Windows Task Manager
Ctrl + Alt + Delete = Opens a control window (if anyone knows the proper name for this, please tell me)
Ctrl + L = Immediately locks Windows

For Multiple Programs
Ctrl + F4 = closes the current tab (if the tab can close)
Ctrl + Tab = switches to the next tab (holding shift switches to the previous tab)
Ctrl + F = opens the "find" function of the program
Ctrl + I = Opens bookmarks
Ctrl + D = Bookmark current page

Window Functions
WK + UA = Maximizes an open window
WK + Shift + UA = maximizes the height of a window
WK + DA = restores a maximized window (minimizes a "normal" window)
WK + M = Minimizes all windows
WK + LA/RA = Shifts the window in that direction; will snap to the side of a monitor screen; if already snapped, will move to the next monitor
WK + Shift + LA/RA = Shifts the window to the next monitor in that direction

EDIT/PS: I'd just like to add that this is my 10th post and first thread. Fitting that I become an official Gerbil on it?

Windows key + Pause = opens System Properties, useful for opening/checking Device Manager.
