I can't believe that they offered this deal to the people in the dark ages still running Windows XP. That's a real bargain.

They're either incredibly confident or running scared because Apple upgrades their OS for $29.99, I can't tell which. Who cares, I guess. We all win.

I'd like to try out Windows 8 but I don't have any spare PCs anymore - just my desktop and my wife's notebook. I don't feel that using a virtual machine is giving the preview a fair shake, either.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.

That's a fine excuse to build a new one!

That's a lot truer than I thought it would be - I've fired it and Server 2012 up in VMs, but I get bored pretty quickly with it and don't end up with a good feel for it.

I jumped all over this upgrade deal when they offered it for Win7.

After having spent some time with the Win8 RC build, I think I'll pass.

I've got some users who have to buy their own Windows licenses & are now on XP. They might be interested in spending $40/ea instead of whatever a standard Win7 Pro license is.

Yes indeedy. The best way to get rid of Metro is not to get involved with it in the first place. IMO, W8 will be a disaster.

I'll buy at least one license, just to get familiar with it and in case something I buy down the road requires it.
$40 is not too bad.
