With Windows7 MS make media playback & living room an integral part of Windows.
Seem like MS is literary making a 360 on this promise of having windows be a media hub.

Like Apple, we are now looking at a company making software for "the rest of them" .

"InfiniTV & Windows 8
General release of Windows 8 is tomorrow, October 26th, and we’re sure many of you are as excited to upgrade as we are. However, we do not recommend that InfiniTV customers upgrade to Windows 8 quite yet.

We expected that the Media Center feature would be included in the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 8 when it was made available to Microsoft partners in August but it was not. In fact, it was just released this morning, so we are only now able to start our final testing.
