Windows 8 Explorer.exe crashes constantly

After installing Windows 8 and my applications, i've been getting a weird problem where explorer.exe crashes once and hour or so.

Its getting really annoying. Google search reveals it might be a shell extension problem. I downloaded shxview and disabled some of the non microsoft shell extensions but the problem still persists. Does anyone here have any idea what could be causing this? Experiences? Tips on finding the root of the cause?

I installed win 8 one week ago, and i am also having exact same problem you are having. I am going reinstall win 8 and let's see what happens.

Please do report back and if you can please make note of the programs that you installed.

Google says Exception code: 0xc0000374 is usually a shell extension incompatibility. Libre Office shell extensions was causing problems with me in Win7 so I disabled them now on Win8. I seems like it happens more frequently when i'm browsing photos and videos but i'm not too sure.

I might of resolved my own problem. I was browsing a folder with a bunch of zip files the other day and explorer kept crashing. I followed these instructions and disabled zip folders support.

It might be a fluke but explorer.exe no longer crashes. Hope this info will help others with similar problems as me.
