DirectX Question

Mon Apr 22, 2013 3:55 pm

Since I am not too MS or Software savy I have a question regarding DX.

During the XP days, DirectX 9 seemed to get updates 2 to 4 times a year.

However I don't think I have seen any explicit DX 11 updates for Win7.

Is there a reason for this?

There doesn't seem to be a driving need to upgrade DX at this point. Games are just now beginning to use Direct X 11 features so Microsoft is putting more resources elsewhere. I suspect we will eventually see updates coming as more developers start to use DX11 and ask for enhancements. Eventually that will turn into a release of a new Direct X (or perhaps they will choose to come up with a new framework with a new name) but that looks to be some years from now.

They're still working on a new DX at this point, but I believe he was asking about minor releases such as this updates http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=35

I don't think DX11 ever needed them.

As you can see DX11.1 is not the end of the food chain.
