I've been using Windows 8 with Start 8 by Stardock for a few months now. Start 8 pretty much solves any gripes I had with the idiocy that is Modern UI. So now that I'm happy with Windows 8 in this form I'm willing to finally get off my bum and load it onto my Desktop.

Here's the catch, I'm a tight arse. The best price I've found for Win8 Pro is newegg for $139. I would like to find any (reputable) sources that will allow me to get Win8 Pro at a lower cost with little hassle. Suggestions?

If you still have access to a valid university email address, you can take advantage of their student price of $69.99 on Windows 8 PRO. They don't require proof that you are still actually attending your university.

That's the Canadian link, but you should be able to get it in US.

I got Windows 8 for $29.99 CAD the day before the price was jacked up earlier this year, knowing I would need it for my new rig that I ended up building in April.

This listed above. Additionally if your a student and your college partners up with Microsoft's Dream spark program you can actually get Windows 8 Pro for free as well as other programs and operating systems, such as Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft Office Visio and Access.

But did you go to college, and if so, do you still have access to your email account?

Like I said, they don't actually check to see if you are a student, they just need a valid college email address.
