Win7 64-bit Pro OEM - ON SALE $80 newegg

on an "e-blast" deal I got in my inbox today. It's been retailing for $139 with occasional sales of $20 off. Today - not sure how long it's good for - it's $79.99 + free shipping.

I wonder if this means MS is nearing the end of its supply....why would it go on sale so cheaply?

You sure about that? The e-mail blast I got was for Home Premium at that price, not Pro.

Could that also be because 8.1 is supposed to go RTM at the end of next month. Not that some users would switch/care, or maybe MS just has some over stock :-)

Quite sure. Except maybe it's not called an "e-blast" it was the Back To School email. I got it yesterday.

I'll let you know what they ship - it'll be here today. (I paid for 3-day shipping b/c I'm going away next week, UPS website says it's "out for delivery" today - overnight service for $6, not bad)

well that was quick. But it says it's good thru the 15th. I'll get another one if I can; not sure if we'll see $79.99 ever again. I really (really) hope this isn't the end of the Win7 disks...

[edit: just in case you were wondering (i know i was) - I got it today and it's the right thing, OEM Win7 Pro 64]

Well I guess this was just a 1-time goof by newegg. I wish I'd bought more than 1. Since that day it's gone back up to $139 and now it's on sale for $119.

Does anyone remember paying $80 for Win7 Pro ever? I need another copy...just wondering if I should hope/wait for another 80 deal.
