Hidden items stay hidden

Hidden items stay hidden

I unchecked the Hidden Items but those files did not show up in the system drive. What could be wrong?

windows 7? 8? administrator? applied to all folders and subfolders?

It is W8(not 8.1). Account type is administrator. What does "applied to all folders and subfolders?" means?

Did you just check the show hidden folders option because below that you have to also uncheck another box to show the hidden system files.

The problem was solved by clicking on the "Reset Folders" button as shown on the image in my previous post.
Clicking the button just solved the problem and I noticed no other change. I thought the default options would be brought back.
