I have made a backup of a DVD movie and encoded it with Divx 4.11 using Flask. The problem I have is that the movie is quite large (1.6 GIG for 2 hour movie) and that when I playback the movie and forward the movie to another place the audio and video are off sync. With Blaze Media one film is fine but another I have the audio and video are off by a half a second. If I use the actual Divx software the audio and video are off by a few seconds. This only happens when I forward the movie. Any suggestions?

Sync errors are fairly common using Flask. Have you tried a group of programs called GordianKnot? You can find it at http://www.doom9.net it's IMHO the best for creating Divx movies. Quite easy to use, and very good for SBC encoding.

I have seen similar problems when playing back large DivX-encoded files and using the progress bar to jump to another location in the file.

especially in windows media player. the pause and play trick works fine though.

Slightly unrelated: sometimes when i try to fast forward or rewind to a section it gives me some kind of error. Can't remember the message right now but it was something to the effect that the file was screwed. But when i just let the movie play, it playes that section flawlessly. I just cant skip to it.

I'll work on cutting down the file size. That might solve part of my problem.

I think this is part of your player's problem.

Have you tried the latest DivX codecs?
