At my new job we have a program which is a royal pain to install.
You have to install it, then patch it, then run the program at which point it auto updates to the current version.
Even with our fairly fast internet it can take up to a day to install because the program is so large.
What I'd like to have is a way to start with a clean machine, take a snap shot of registry settings etc. and run the install.
When done take another snapshot and then create a new installer based on the differences found.
Then we can run our custom installer and get everything done in one shot and it would probably only take 15 mins max to install.
You would think that the producer of the software would provide an updated installer but for whatever reason this is the way they want it done. (Stupid I know...)
Anyone have any ideas?
I wish to see things not as they are but as they should be.
