Hmmm, looks like an app running in a window to me. Not that that's a bad thing if it stays touch friendly.

If memory serves, they experimented with dynamic live tiles with WP7 but there were some security problems so only MS apps ever took advantage of it. It'll be interesting to see if they can get it to a developer-friendly state.

The other issue for WP was battery life, because the more the phone is trying to do when it's "idle" the worse that gets. That's not as much of a problem for desktops (or even laptops, at least when the screen is off).
