Nirsoft Produkeyview will NOT retrieve Windows 8 OEM keys. Belarc will only show you the serial if the currently-running OS knows it. The link I gave reads it from the BIOS direct, doesn't matter what OS is installed or running. Sauce: I used it to get my OEM key from the BIOS after I installed Win8.1 Pro, before it was activated (8.1 won't auto-activate 8.0 BIOS keys, have to do it manually).
Usacomp - The serial number is not part of the COA sticker anymore. Starting with Win8, the COA is exactly this:
It uses color-changing ink (shifts color when tilted), and is anti-tamper (hence why mine shredded when Dell put packing tape across mine), but has no form of serialization (which makes Dell's refusal to replace mine extra-extra dumb).
