Have you tried removing one of the proc's and see if it helps?

Do you have another CD/DVD ROM drive to use?

Are you beginning the install, then walking away and when you come back, clicking on something to continue? I had a poor quality ROM that halted my Linux installs because I would start it, do something else, then when I came back and it was time for it to spin up the CD after it had gone idle, it would spin, but never resume reading where it left off. It was very odd.

i only have 1 cd drive installed but i will try to use a different one.
I MAY try to run it with 1 proc but will that muss things up after i pop in the 2nd proc. I dont know how to recompile and all that cause im a newbie. Also i dont wanna take off the pric cause i got the 1700's OC using the pinmod and everything is FINALLY runing perfect (on windoze) - the temps are good and is hasnt crashed ever. maybe i just have to pull a proc. The CD media is also freshly burned, no finger prints.

Hm... there's no way you can disable the 2nd processor straight from the BIOS?

Also, do the following: rip an ISO of your current CD and compare it to the original ISO from which you burned it. I've had several installations fail on me due to bad media.

just brew it!

Weren't you the person with the Tyan Tiger MP (not MPX)?

The original Tiger MP can't handle 2400+ CPUs. IIRC it tops out at around 2000+ (give or take); beyond that, the power circuitry on the mobo is overtaxed; the system becomes unstable and/or the ATX power connector eventually overheats and melts.

If you've got a different mobo, then never mind...
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
