I think that is taking things too far to the paranoid level for the average user. Standard secure password practices (such as not using the same password for TR as you use for your banking), sing a modern distro and applying the security updates as they are released, is pretty much enough for anyone. Yes, uber-hackers can probably still access your stuff, but securing the OS isn't going to fix that - how often do you check your PC for internally installed key-logging hardware?
