Ok, so actually it's just the transmission shop I have my car at, but I was still somewhat taken aback when the guy at the front desk said "Oh, and we have a computer for our customers to browse the web, if you want to use it. I'll go ahead and start it up because it can take a minute to start up. We run Linux."

The office server, which set right next to this machine was a PIII if I remember correctly.

It looks exactly like a Dell OptiPlex GX1, I got two of those at work (sans the cupholder, unfortunately )...If that's the case it'd be a Pentium III

not that TR folk are crazy or anything.
but *if* they were, why bother trawling through public records and this forum to discover someone's identity. If you want to take a TR person out why not just turn up to one of the BBQ's they run, they even bring there own guns sometimes

the point is - hiding your license plate numbers on here is just as overly paranoid as putting tape over your name on your work shirt when you walk down the street for lunch.

edit: oh, and the OP's mechanic is awesome. I would use them to service my car if it wasn't slightly inconvenient.

Holy cow those guys are amazing with their documentation and I am impressed they have a Linux box for customers to use. I have come to expect very little from mechanics so these guys are right off the scope.
