Helping TR Fold (Free 4850s)

Postposted on Mon Dec 31, 2012 12:25 am

I have a pair of 4850s that are no longer needed. One has an intermittent squeaky fan for the past six months. The other has artifacts when entering most games, didn't have time to diagnose if it's shot. I'd like to offer my fellow gerbils them to use them to fold if they would like. I will ship in retail boxes. I can pay for shipping if need be. cards never OCd. MODS if this needs to be transferred to BB I understand, just thought it might get seen by more folders here. Sadly for these and my never crunched a work unit 4830, the current F@h minimum AMD/ATI GPU entry level is the 5000 series.

While the GPU2 client download page still lists 2xxx through 5xxx, a note on the V7 WinGuide page - http://folding.stanford.edu/English/WinGuide#ntoc4 - tells the sad story, "The end of support for ATI/AMD 4xxx series and below was announced in March 2011, and scheduled to end in September 2011. The last of the Fahcore_11 (GPU2) work units actually lasted until June 2012, more than a year after the original announcement."

There are currently a few charity Fahcore_11 work units to help nVidia GPU folders with G80-G92 low memory cards transition to a Fermi or Kepler card, however these work units could vanish at any time.

Dang, well I guess I'll just post them in the BB, thanks Farmpuma, I was wondering if they were going to be to dated.
