So Gerbils, where's the beef!? SOG puts a 14k PPD folding monster to work for UGN and our PPD numbers go down. I am confused.

I think my systems may be down. I'm on vacation for a couple more days. I'll check them when I get home.

I just wanted to share with everyone. This is kinda an older review, but it was a good read. I suggest everyone read it, if you haven't.

You notice that they discouraged ATI cards as they consume way more power than it is worth. 8800GT are still the best! I'm still gonna try the multi GTX260 when I get the money. Only problem is that they require full 16x electrical slots... I think all mine are either 16x/8x or 16x/8x/8x. Oh well. Will research that part too.

It may be UGN is missing machines, but it may also be the above-linked thread.

The new 2.10 FahCore_a2.exe is a pig. It's slower, but in exchange you won't download and start folding the exceedingly rare bad WU's and then crash after an extended period or slow down to the point of missing the deadline. Instead of simply removing the bad WU's from their servers, they make our machines do that work, and slow them down upwards of 30% to boot (> 800 PPD on my C2D @ 3120 MHz, ~350 PPD on my Brisbane X2 @ 2840 MHz). Another in the long line of Stanford demonstrations of lazy programming or at minimum poor project management.

If they're going to give us new, crappy cores, they should also change the point award system, but they never do that. My GPU2 clients have slowed down considerably since last year with their new cores, but they have yet to re-test their WU's against what they consider the standard machine. In doing science, they're remarkably unscientific in certain matters.

N.B.: The explanation for what they did doesn't start until at least page 9 [here and the next post] from what I can tell.

Well, it wasn't just you SOG. I am in the process of moving and while stacking boxes in the garage on Friday, I inadvertently unplugged my folding node. I did not discover it until Sunday. I will be finishing my move in the next few days so my folding production will be be off line for a day or so starting Wednesday of this week.

I was still having heating problems.
The fan was running at 100%, but it was still overheating.
I opened her right up, and the fan is totally seized. No amount of grease or lubrication would correct it.
I am going to have to get another cooler for it.

So with Gerbil jed SOG and Jeffry all out of the mix, does that mean it was little old me and my rigs going there for a bit?

I'm putting out 13k to 15k I would guess. One GTX 285 and one 9800GTX+

I'm trying to be conservative. FAHMon is saying the GTX285 is doing 9200 PPD itself.
