Unfortunately, it's too hot in Louisiana to fold except in the winter (mainly because I'm stingy with electricity), but I'm looking forward to joining the fight for the UGN, so that we may cumulatively claim dominance once and for all!
Hoorah! Hoorah! For Gerbil's points hoorah!
Hoorah for the gerbil wheel flag that bears a single gerbil!
Also, just started using the GPU2 client. Holy pigeons it works a lot faster than the CPU clients.

The silence wakes my because those four folders are the first layer of my heating system. When they all shutdown my bedroom can get pretty darn cold pretty darn quickly.
How is that Atom folding btw? How many ppd's are we talking about here?mghong wrote:As i'm running one of my baby machinese using Atom to fold at my hometown
Your laptop should have more punch than the Atom, especially if you put it on SMP. However, folding on laptops is generally not recommended because of the additional heat and the inadequacy of heat removing ability. However if you can ensure ample airflow around the laptop (lots of breathing room) and you monitor closely you may get away with it.mghong wrote:will it possible for me to fold again using my laptop ?? because of work nature i need to on the laptop 24*7 ...it might be good for me to fold on Centrino 2 right ?
Just enter team 2630 and the same user name/id. That is how multi-node farm and UGN work. All those machines just use the same user name.mghong wrote:Will i need to registered again or just use back my existing id to fold ??

Are you folding for the mighty UGN? If yes, then posting here is fine.mghong wrote:Thank fox , i just realize i might asking in wrong thread , as for ppd(point per day) i use to see around 500 point i manage to finish on that day..
Make sure you are not blocknig the air vents on the laptop then.mghong wrote:My laptop is together with me in a aircon room with it own tables..i think shall be no problem.
Probably it does not allow you to install the Windows services for the SMP client? If it is a work machine you need to be careful if company policy prohibits you from running things that are not "business related". We certainly don't want to get people fired.mghong wrote:SMP ??Symmetric Multi-processing , let me try to install on my laptop..but gone to reactive it when i put it in office...Security violation..

What the hell, that doesn't seem right.

I have checked JPinTO's points and he seemed to be having the same thing. Must be Stanford's regular server outages.
In other news, I have shipped off the E2160 to my buyer so that node is off. I will be getting an E6300 in its place soon for my file server and rebuild my own box with an Athlon II X2 250/785G platform. However, with my usual practise of stress testing new builds for a few days to a week, I would be one node down for the next little while (the old S939 X2 3800+ will be holding down the fort in the meantime).

You will fold with it under UGN's name? Then of course I will send you some hardware

Sorry, I have been out of touch for so long... Still happily folding and getting everything I can out to UGN! BTW, I have a spare x8 slot if you wanna throw me a card. And on average the new node is only costing me 5 bucks extra a month for electricity! Don't ask me how...That is good news, so family is happy with the new addition to the family!
Keep truckin'!

Take the card SoG! You know you want it!!
Ragnar Dan wrote:My 8800GT 256MB version is the best deal I've gotten for folding by far. It kicks up to 5980 PPD doing 353 pointers (with the occasional 6099 points on some frames), and except for the fact that I keep having to slow it down every once in a while, has been my best producer except the 260GTX. And for only $76.98 including shipping after MIR, it was a great deal in July 2008.
