I think he is in California and the electric bill got to him. He was giving away

It is finally cooling off in Florida! Yes!

Look for some more points in the next week or so! Adding a SYSTEM. or two.

Jeffry, sold of his systems ? That is a sad news, I wonder if i will ever hear from him and David.

David has left UGN to be Folding on his own for a while now. Jeffry is practically silent these days but I am hoping he still keeps some of his systems up. UGN's production is fairly erratic these days and is no longer a top 20 producer consistently. :(

It's really sad to see great folders out of action. I hope things are going fine at Jeffry's end.

I've still got 2 of the 3 cards he sent me folding. 1 has sadly died. Unfortunately I haven't heard from any other UGN'ers in a while.

If you have 2 GPUs folding, and I have a GT 240 (~3k ppd, have not run in a couple of weeks) and 2 SMP CPU nodes (~1400+2400 ppd) folding, this means just the 2 of us are pretty much holding down the fort these days? :o :-?

Ya, so it would seem. It's a sad time for the UGN.

Yes I am on fire!
Still have a system to install, after Christmas.
An i7-930. Have the parts but no time.

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to all you TR folders !

JPinTO not sure were you are getting those numbers. Canadian Math?
No it is not all I got/have. Still doing some tuning and adding new cooling.
I will post a new bragging thread tomorrow! Most points in a day for our team!
See you have upped your base line points per day. Great! Good for the team!

What do you think about AMD's 8 core Bulldozer? Might add one after benchmarks
if it looks good. Or maybe wait until Sandybridge Q4. Intel did not impress me
with the SB launch. 4 cores with hyperthreading? Same as a 9xx. Who cares about
integrated graphics? Joe six pack at Best Buy?
Intels jacking us on overclockin' with SB so AMD may be the ticket.

Fuzzhead, Now your REALLY burning the FAH! Wow! What did you add to your farm to get that impressive points boost?

I just added a 2600K @ 4.45Ghz which is good for 40k PPD on a P6900 AND it runs very cool. We'll see what AMD pulls out of the hat with a true 8core.

Fold on.

I added a i970 at 4.2Ghz. 91k ppd on 6900 units.
If I would quit getting 2684's ppd would be higher.
I am holding off until AMD bulldozer chips come out,
or Intel new chips in q4. Florida heat will make me lower
my production in a couple of months. So don't get to nervous
yet.

I mis-spoke on my previous post. I am getting 62k ppd on the i7 970.
Or 92k every 1.5 days.
Sorry if I confused anyone.

For us that fold -bigadv you need to read this.

http://folding.typepad.com/

I popped two bigadv today with no credit. And getting just A3's.

New core to download. Just overwrite the old one or name it what you want.

thanks for the heads up fuzzhead. i won't be near my i7 for another 3 wks so i guess my ppd will go down for a while(not that it was getting the bonus consistently to begin with)

Jpinto what is happening? Start pumping some points. You are making
this to easy. I shut down 50k ppd! I guess I need to shut of some i7's???

Thanks JPinto, You are MAGNANIMOUS (showing or suggesting nobility of feeling and generosity of mind)

Now I can shutdown some systems to save electric $'s.

Yes we may fall further. We need more folders. Only 141 active is not a lot!

Everyone start a GPU folding. Most people on a tech site should have a half-decent
or decent GPU. You can't be playing games 24x7. :o

IMO they need to reduce the time it takes to complete the WUs as well. On my 875K it took up to 4+ days to finish, making it very risky in case something goes wrong. Reduce the points received, but reduce the time to complete. I would rather see a smaller but steadier stream of points if they are reducing the points anyways.

There is always a need to adjust and re-balance points. Not all will like change, but I do understand we have to do this from time to time.

No Big ADV units after Jan 16th, 2012 Unless you have 16 cores.
Two Xeons and lots of $'s to build one!

Doesn't affect me, since I've never had the ability to run those WUs anyway and I don't plan to build a 16-core rig any time soon.

But you could probably do a 16-core Socket G34 Opteron system (either dual 8-core Magny-Cours, or a single 16-core Interlagos) for significantly less than the Xeons.

If they don't want me folding bigadv WU's for them, they can have it that way. I'll save lots of money, and the annoyances will decline greatly.

Any system that was able to run bigadv would probably do reasonably well with the SMP bonus WUs...
