GPU FOLDING Hangs

Tue Feb 03, 2009 11:35 am

I am using two rigs to fold rite now.

1.) Dell Inspiron 530 Intel Core 2 Quad [email protected], 4 gigs GTX 260 750w PSU Win Vista Prem 32 bit
This folds 24/7 with no issues hitting 6,000 ppd.

2.) Dell Inspiron 530 Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 @ 2.53ghz 2 gigs Zotac 8800gt AMP! 512MB Win Vista Prem 32 bit
The GPU CLIENT seems to stop after a cycle or two. Than the computer goes into sleep mode. I uninstalled and re-installed the GPU Client downloaded two days ago from he folding site..

Observations:
Machine one does not go into sleep mode at all and folds 24/7 as stated. Machine 2 falls asleep. WTF! I am going to change the settings now so it does not go into sleep mode but that should not stop the client from hanging. I've seen other posts where big time folders have quit due to this issue or similar ones. What is going on here? How do i fix this. I want to set up a third and fourth machine but not if this BS is gonna happen too.

As a second topic is it possible to simultaneously fold with cpu as well as gpu clients running at the same time? How do I do this?

I wounder if its going to sleep, shutting off the monitor, and thus eue'ing and shutting down for 24hrs?

Vista requires a monitor, so check the "sleep" settings.

Yes you can cpu/gpu fold. d/l a client and run it.

Turn off the power management and the screensaver.

You can run the Windows SMP client and the GPU client. Just install them both.
