Retiring Current Folding Farm After Milestone

I made it a goal when I decided to start folding years ago that I wanted to get to 10,000,000 points. Well, I finally was able to hit it last week!

I've decided to retire the two PCs still currently running F@H, one reason being the age of the hardware, a 8800GT and 8800GTS running nonstop for close to 4 years.I do plan to come out of retirement when I completly upgrade sometime next year when Haswell is released.

I was able to crack the top 30 list from time to time, and I got into the top 3000 overall users, so I'm pretty proud of that. Has anyone else recently hit milestones or plan to change it up over the next coming months? And I'm curious, what do current GPUs do in terms of PPD?

I hit 25,000,000 points sometime in the past few days. It's not one of the "official" milestones, but it feels like one.

I've been winding things down too, shutting down the client on several older/slower systems. Now I only run SMP WUs on a small number of multi-core (quad or better) systems. I still plan to keep it running on the existing systems going forward (and have another 1090T I may add to the mix), but my days of running a big diskless farm are long gone...

I passed The Bank not to long ago.
I'll pass Lord Icon in 1.6 weeks.
Why is this important?
They were the points leaders when I started Folding 7 years ago.
Now that I'm in TR's Top 50, I'm not sure what to do.
Our team has slid in standings, but more importantly
there seems to be little to no interest from the TR community to do this any longer, other than
usual suspects. Congrats on your milestone and hope to see your name in red again sooner rather than later

To answer your question about newer GPU's points, I have 2 450GTS that average 9-10k per day.

Not good news. EOC stats show 98 active users (3.29%).

I shut down just over a week ago. I lost interest with trying to keep up with the new systems that produced an order of magnitude more points whilst Stanford seemed uninterested in fixing some very basic issues in their clients. Now that the warm weather is here, I couldn't justify the electricity cost.

Yeah, I think the issues notfred mentioned have hurt quite a bit. Plus, with modern CPUs the "it doesn't cost you anything if the computer is on anyway" argument is no longer valid, since the CPU will throttle itself down if there's no load.

Not F@H, but I just broke into the top 1000 in the rc5-72 challenge at distributed.net. When I started, I was getting .3 Mkeys per second; with the gpu client I get 4000Mkeys/s.
