just brew it! wrote:Just happened to notice that the client was using only 7 cores out of the available 8. Apparently the latest Linux SMP client leaves one core unused by default. If you have no need to keep one core free, you may want to explicitly use the "--cpus=" option when launching the client to ensure you are fully utilizing all available cores.

So it is not -smp x anymore? Good to know.

Weekend numbers have been great, so in any event, Frankie is smashing up the place. No wait; that's Hulk...

BIF wrote:There appears to have been an issue with the "mothership" at Stanford. I noticed that the 9 PM statistics showed zero points. Not just for Frankie, either; it looks like nobody in all of Team TR generated any points during that window.
I also seemed to be having other issues not related to folding, so just to be conservative I rebooted my system and also recycled my DSL and router. For about 20 minutes my folding units wouldn't start; the local web client kept timing out. Finally, it took and seems to be running now. Weird.

Have you tried a reboot? That seems to fix the issue for me. Well, until it gets stuck again requiring another reboot. It's like F@H gets hung up on something and won't talk to the servers.
just brew it! wrote:Must be only certain servers affected. One of my 8-core boxes just grabbed a new WU about 30 minutes ago.
