internal wireless card

Mon Feb 15, 2010 2:19 pm

So my father dropped my mothers laptop that had a linksys wireless card in it which never even worked well to begin with and of coarse doesn't work now. It's an older laptop but still with plenty of power and I want to get an internal mini pci wireless card to put into it. It has a slot for it with the antenna wires. I'm looking online and they are cheaper to buy then the external wireless cards. My only concern is the antenna wires..The black and white one...which one goes where? or does this not matter?

In order to help you, we need specific information. Which card are you looking to get?

Laptop manufacturers are usually very very picky about what brand of wireless card can be installed. Hopefully the one you bought works for you, but you may get a message like "unsupported wireless device - remove and reboot" or something to that effect if it's not compatible. Not quite as easy as popping a PCI card into a desktop.

I just looked it up and thankfully it is supported for the laptop.
