Microphone headset without speakers

Sun Feb 21, 2010 10:39 pm

This is a tough one. I'm interested in a microphone that I can attach to my head, but that does not have earphones. All I want is the boom mic. Does such a beast exist? My googling turns up dry for this.

I have only ever seen them for telecommunications and not with a 3.5mm that pc mics normally use, if you do find something id be interested to see

I guess a possibility would be to get a converter to switch one of those into 3.5mm

Why? Please don't tell me you're going to subject people to this? I can still remember every ear bleeding moment someone thought they could use their mic and speakers at the same time on Ventrilo.

The only headworn mics I know of are professional grade. Check out Shure, Audio Technica, and the sort. All of those mics require adapters that can be had on the cheap from RadioShack.

I had a similar need a while ago. I just use one of the Logitech chat headsets (the behind-the-head variety) upside down around my neck. Works great and I can use my headphones with them too.

I think Sennheiser makes/made an attachable boom-mic for their HD280 headphones, but I could be thinking of the headset itself.

I solved that conundrum with a cheap clip-on mic. Maybe it's what you're looking for?
