Looks like mine was a good buy, particularly if someone needs an actual LPT port. I previously had my Pentium box configured as a floppy-boot device with a static IP, and my LaserJet 4L running via a TCP/IP port. So I forced the TrendNet device out of DHCP mode to the same static IP that the Pentium box was using, and everything worked exactly the same as before, no other configuration needed. Bonus: this device uses low-intensity green LEDs for the indicators, so I don't have yet
another Blue Laser of Death trying to burn my eyes out.
I did get one entertaining piece of Engrish from the configuration utility when I searched for a firmware update with a disabled Ethernet device. This apparently means "The connection attempt timed out":
