I am not sure that the ban on re-fuelling will change much, other than faster pit-stops and continuously declining lap times.

No refueling, front tires narrowed by 25mm, a limit of 8 sets of tires over a race weekend (teams get 11 sets, but must turn in 3 unused sets at the end of the race), and requiring the top-10 qualifiers to start on their qualifying tires. This begins to look a whole lot like the late '80s/early '90s battles between the Canon-liveried Williams and the McLaren-Marlboro cars. Who are the modern team equivalents of Mansell/Piquet and Prost/Senna?

We can only wish that that level of excitement returns.

So will it be Alonso/Massa and Hamilton/Button?
These pairs seem to be the most evenly matched and have the best odds at top of the class cars.

Hopefully Stephan GP will make it to the grid for the season. Villeneuve may be a has been, but I am sure that he will have something interesting to say of the course of the year.

Don't count out Schu either. The car should be ok and Schu can wring more performance out of it to be in the thick of things. Rosberg will need a quantum leap in his racing to be up there. Also, provided Red Bull can fix their reliability (I'm giving it a 60% chance with past Newey-designed fragile cars), Webber and Vettel are also a pretty good match. We now have 4 legitimate teams I think.

So you don't care for his racing but his sound bites? :P

I was never the biggest JV fan, but I think F1 needs his aggressive style, both on the track and off. I find the drivers a bit boring, too afraid to rock the boat. I get the feeling they are all muzzled by their teams and their sponsors. Look at Ruebens, he let everyone know his feelings in the middle of last year, and almost immediately you got the feeling that he would be shown the door.
While this is a sport, I want to be entertained as well. The stock quotes thanking the team, the sponsors and the crew back at the factory after every race no matter if the driver finished 1st or the engine melted down on the 1st lap just don't cut it. I will not miss the post race comments from Kimi...

Most of the time Kimi was pretty bored with all the press asking the same questions over and over, he could occasionally give a really good quip though and I think he's actually quite a funny guy with an extremely dry sense of humour.

Reading the reports from testing, I agree on those 4 teams being very close currently, although there are the rumours of a new Mercedes double-diffuser going to the first race so teams don't have time to protest it beforehand. I think it's going to be an epic season with so many talented drivers in good cars.

I will be suprised if McLaren survive the season without their engine cover being scrutinised. I was informed by a McLaren employee that it actually moves at speed causing a vibration that channels more air towards the rear wing. Moveable devices are definately banned! (bar the front wing)

It's stuff like this that makes me pine for the days of Formula Libré or even Can-Am. The world's top racing league should be a run-what-you-brung free-for-all determined by driver skill, bravery, engineering talent, and cubic dollars. If that's too much for all, then put everyone in identically-prepped repro Lotus 49s and really make the drivers work for their grid positions.

I think I read about the rear wing instead? Also Merc is rumoured to come out with a new diffuser design in the 1st race weekend which may be stepping into the minefield again. Engineers are supposed to bend the rules, so we will see. Usually these are cases of "how come we didn't come up with this? damn if we don't have it, nobody can!".

Hastily picked a team together for the weekend, can't wait for the season to start! I hope the first 2 races can give us some more clues as to the pecking order.

Race on!

I'm not sure what you mean.

And the rear wing stalling at high speed is a different thing all together than what I said about

I don't think I ever asked about it. I'm happy with not knowing, especially with the 3 'practise' races. Everyone will end up with the same team otherwise

Whereas I look at it differently because this is the only fantasy league I'm in where I can't see my leaguemates team details.

I did make that request, but never heard back from the site admin after the initial response saying that dev is locked down once the season starts, not that I followed up either. So it looks like my request did not make the cut for feature additions.

So the teams are set, it should be an interesting year. I predict a lot of wrecks this year, with new drivers and new teams and the old guard trying to dodge them some races (Monaco) might look like an interstate pile up.

Now I only dread how badly TSN will butcher the broadcasting.

Can't be worse than Speed's coverage. I had that for a while and I always switched back. Speed is good for the pre-race coverage though.

I think it would be better if we can't see the other people's team, it more competitive that way.

TSN will cut away from the race at the top of the hour no matter what, so if the post race conference has not started, too bad you miss it, and I have seen them cut away in the middle of the winners comments.

Well, for all the hype that race didn't quite seem as exciting as it should have apart from Vettel's problem.

I suck in the Fantasy League, but congrats to ShawnOnSlicks, 4th overall!!!

So after that relatively boring race in Bahrain, once again rain made for a pretty entertaining race down under.
