Yeah I was hoping UGN would pull back into shape and put out some bigger numbers with all the big time folders overtaking them.

Do you find the -BIGADV units are worth it? I've got a i7 920 @3.5Ghz on WinSMP with a GPU in it which gets about 14000PPD + the GPU = ~20k. I'm sure the i7 would be 24000PPD on LinuxSMP. I can't wrap my head around risking 3 days folding if you lose a WU. The WinSMP chews through a WU every 6 hours day in and day out without any issues.

I am running two boxes a 920 @ 4.0 Ghz and a 930 @4.2 Ghz and have not dropped any WU's.
It would be an extra 10k ppd for you. Try it! You know you want to!

JP one thing on the big WU's watch your temps. They run hotter than the normal WU's
I have a pair of nv275's in one box. So I use Process Lasso to set Affinity and Priority,
giving the CPU 7 threads and the GPU's 1 Thread.

You need 5+Gb of RAM to run BIGADV, right? My i7 920 is currently @ 3.5Ghz and it's running 80C on each core. I had it had 4.0Ghz and it was at 90C with regular A3 units, let alone BIGADV ones. Not good! Not sure what to do about the heat esp. now that summer is coming.

I agree, those A1 units are horrible, hope they are done soon.

Yes you need to set it for 5 gigs in the VM or if you run Linux it will take care of itself.
Sounds like you need a better cooler. I am at 4.0 and not hitting 80c.
Yes summer here in Florida will be 92f in about a month or less. May have to lower the output
some.

Bad day for folding. Router died. Dragged out the Linux Smoothwall firewall router out of the garage to get going.
Netgear 3700 less than 3 months old. Warranty replacement.
My GeFarce 470 I got today does not fold yet! Stanford fix this please.
It is faster than the BFG gtx285 super OC or whatever its name is, in games, folding not sure YET.

No issues. I just stopped three systems. It is 91 degs in Florida today. If I run the air to fight the
folders I will get a massive electric bill. May turn off more. I should still stay #2 in points.

The node I got from Jeffry is nicely in the basement where it is cool, but I have to avoid the gaming computer in my room being on too much in this heat, so it's not really folding in the summer. The 8800GT system sits at work now, and I fold with it 8 hours a day while I work. My media center no longer folds in it's downtime. I'm upset to say the passive 5450 claims to not support folding. I'm not going back to the noisy fan of the 2600Pro either. So my contributions are down to the node and an 8800GT running on an 8 hour shift...I feel like such a slacker, but money is tight right now.

Yes I am sure the 470 draws 200+watts. But I have been waiting for 2 months to fold on it. Traded in the 285
and $48. Don't ask! 285 was getting 9-10k.

Food for thought,

If I only was folding with the 470 I would be number 14th in points for the team???
Only 13 people on the team can afford the GPU and the electricity. We must be poor!

Jigar I don't know what happened to the head Gerbil after I passed his team.
I think he is in California and the electric bill got to him. He was giving away
systems so he is probably not fording.

On another note:
It is finally cooling off in Florida! Yes!
