Epic tennis match

Wed Jun 23, 2010 8:56 pm

Whatever you might think about tennis, this match throws it aside. Athletes? They went at it for over 7 hours straight today. The fifth set alone (so far) is already longer than any other match in a major tournament in time or games. They've played into darkness two days running.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Yeah. After I watched the world cup match with USA today and that epic win, I then followed it with 4.5 hours of tennis watching. That game is beyond epic.

You know, boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like a woman. You just have to read the manual and press the right buttons.

As others have said the winner is not expected to go far, but it will be interesting to see how much gas Isner has left in his tank. If he wins his next match it will already be a big accomplishment. I read that he's playing doubles too, I hope he does not totally let his partner down.

They already delayed that match once (because he was still in his singles match!); I wonder how understanding the officials will be in rescheduling.

Not too understanding I wouldn't think. There is only a certain amount of time for the tournament to complete after all!

Well, turns out he and his partner pulled out and then he promptly lost his next match in the quickest time looking like a ghost of himself. At least his name is immortalized in the history books.
