I'm tired of carrying my huge case over to LAN's does anyone know of a small motherboard that would be good for gamming?

If cost is no object, and you don't care about future upgradeability, then something like this would be decent for gaming and easy to carry around.

More seriously, how about a µATX board like the NV7m? Stick it into a small case with a handle mounted to it, and you'd be good to go.

I set up a system based off a NV7m a little while ago for my Uncle. He hasn't been having any problems with it as of yet. If I can, I'll try to test the onboard video and check out its OC options.

The on-board video is going to be a bit weak for 3D gaming (unless you play at 640x480x16). Think of it as a "GeForce2 MX250"--it's not very much faster than an MX200. However, the board does have an AGP slot, so you can slap in a better video card if you want to play 3D games.

If I read the features page correctly, the NV7m includes on-board LAN and excellent sound, so even with the AGP slot filled you shouldn't need to use all three PCI slots.

I like this idea here:

Only I'm think a slightly larger box, somthing with room to carry the keyboard, mouse, cables, CD, and whatever else I would want. Everything would be in one box ('cept the monitor, I know) easy to carry. Hell you could get one with wheels roll it right out the door.

Another option if you're rich is to look at laptops.

A mobile P3 1Ghz with 512 KB cache connected to a lot of RAM and a GPU from ATI or nVidia - that would be very nice, and VERY portable. In the laptop's bag take some speakers/headphones, and a decent mouse, and you're laughing.

As JustAnEngineer pointed out, you can get P4s with DDR now.

I was considering getting a Laptop, but since I'm a college student I'm poor right now so I need to find other solutions.
