So I just got to my summer house and connected to my wifi network (Comcast). At first, it was horrible, on speedtest.net I got less than 1mbps. But then, miraculously, it goes back up and on speedtest.net it shots to 15mbps.

It keeps fluctuating between these two speeds and remains a the slower speed for some days and then some days it stays fast.

It doesn't matter what location I am at either, it can be fast in the same spot it was slow before.

The only explanation I can come up with is that it is my ISP **** around but my friends laptop gets good speed.

It's more likely to be interference from something causing the speed to drop down than Comcast messing with you.

I don't understand though...my upload speed is faster than my download speed.

K So I just connected my laptop via cat 5 and the speed shot up to 31mb/s!

So I guess it is my wireless card. Anyone know the fix?

First thing I could think of is switching out your WLAN card for an Intel model. Intel wireless cards are quality.

Might not fix it, though.
