flip-mode wrote:I hate Windows 7 "Snap". It just occurred to me that I can probably turn it off, and indeed, I can! Yay! But I'm moving my windows around all the time - usually to get to something behind them. I don't like having my windows full screen on either my 1600x1200 or 1900x1200 monitors (the latter at work). Anyway, I hate it, and I have turned it off.
mikehodges2 wrote:I use that all the time. When I have 2 documents open and I want to see them side by side, win+left and win+right. Then when I want to maximize it back (mostly on the laptop), win+up. Quick and "snappy".axeman wrote:I hate that the left and right edge "snap" to make the windows half screen only works at the far left and far right on dual monitors, seems a stupid design decision. To snap to one side, which borders a second screen; win key + arrow.
I love the feature, use it all the time. It's a great idea imo
Flying Fox wrote:I use both Alt+Tab and the taskbar. I think "flip 3d" is utterly disgusting and is a pathetic attempt at an Expose like feature. Heh, I don't use Window 7 "Libraries" at all either. I guess the only Windows 7 feature that I actually like and use is D3D 11. I like Windows 7 better than Window XP, but mostly because is feels more polished and looks prettier - not because of the features. Windows is dead to me. I use it because I don't have the option not to. Having said that, I don't think there is an OS that is clearly better than Windows 7. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.flip-mode wrote:I hate Windows 7 "Snap". It just occurred to me that I can probably turn it off, and indeed, I can! Yay! Alt-tab or taskbar? If you hold down the keys while alt-tabbing or hover over the preview on the taskbar, Aero peek will kick in and help you out?

Skrying wrote:I love Snap. It's easily my favorite feature in Windows 7. It makes me far more productive and every OS I use on a regular basis I find some solution that is comparable because it's such a must have. I also think Libraries are handy though I've seen far less people use them, the concept seems a little odd to a lot of people.
StuG wrote:+1 for Snap. So useful in almost all situations to 1/2 screen something.
flip-mode wrote:Yeah, I should amend that it *can* be useful sometimes and my primary issue is unwanted snapping. It would be nice to be able to turn off mouse snapping and still have a key combo available.

That's a great idea, it's on the list.
flip-mode wrote:Yeah, good point, users should just shut up and quit thinking about how something could be better. Maybe everyone should do that about everything. Yeah!
flip-mode wrote:I did find that I need to be a bit more careful with the mousing (so that it doesn't hit the edges), but the adjustment is not that tough so I decided to keep the feature.StuG wrote:+1 for Snap. So useful in almost all situations to 1/2 screen something.

Indeed, because you're needs at this moment trumps everyone elses. This includes all the other people who at this very moment - on these series of pipes we call the Interweb - are complaining about a the same feature in a different way, a totally different feature, or some new feature never implemented.
In fact your idea at this very moment is a unique snowflake and has no doubt never been brought up before. So go grab yourself a nice cold Bud Light Mr. I hate Windows Vista R2 snap man.
All I'm doing is asking what other people think.

Except me apparently.
That's racist!

You never gave your opinion about the feature. Your giving your opinion about the fact that I have an opinion about it, which is even more racist!
Flying Fox wrote:Good idea:lol: I think that is quite enough. Let's focus back on bitching or loving the feature.

That leaves the window in it's normal state, not maximized.
