And on dell.ca the U2311H is doing CAD$239+tax, don't know how long that will last though.

That's a pretty awesome deal. But I needed something a bit bigger, and wanted the full 1920x1200 resolution. I got the Dell Ultrasharp 2410 (two of them actually) on sale for $499 plus free shipping. They are incredibly beautiful. No regrets.

Ya next time the 2410 goes on sale for that price I hope I have enough money to get one too.

I believe that I paid $470+tax for my U2410. It's a terrific monitor, but that's still more than double the cost of the U2211H. At $195+tax (with free shipping) for a 1920x1080 e-IPS LCD monitor, it's a lot easier to convince folks not to buy a crappy TN LCD monitor that costs only $45 less.

JAE- If you were buying today, would you get an HP ZR24w, if it was available for $400 shipped? Or would you still prefer the U2410?

I bought the U2311H ten days ago. It's ~2'' larger than the U2211H (~23.6'' vs 21.6'') which was a disadvantage in my case - but the larger monitor is said to have slightly lower input lag and backlight bleeding than the smaller one.

Impressions:
- excellent construction, stand and pivot implementation (I'm typing with the monitor rotated right now!)
- excellent color accuracy, especially after callibration. Bright picture with great contrast and homogeneity (default is 75% brightness, which I've toned down to 20% for late-night typing and 30% for daylight conditions).
- low input lag (10ms), very fast response, minimal ghosting/overshoot artifacts. I've tested with movies, Starcraft 2 and Mass Effect 2 - no problems moving from my CRT to this monitor!

This is an A2 revision (Europe) that appears to solve the uniformity issues in A0, as well as backlight bleeding (there is a tiny amount of bleeding on the bottom right corner but only visible in a dark room if you are explicitly looking for it - noone seemed to notice unless I pointed this out).

Downsides:
- it has *very* aggressive anti-glare coating that causes pure colors to appear somewhat "dirty" or "sparkling". Although I love matte monitors I'd have preferred a slightly less aggressive coating (note: I've seen the same coating other matte Dell monitors, so it's not specific to this model).
- viewing angles are good but not perfect. You have about 30deg leeway on each direction before the display starts losing contrast. Even so, this is an IPS panel which is much more stable than TNs in color reproduction and viewing angles - a TN would never work pivoted like this monitor.

In short: easily superior to TNs in this price point and the best value for an IPS monitor right now. Perfect for games, movies and browsing. Very good for text (but not perfect due to the aggressive anti-glare coating).

Definitely recommended - I'm saving for a second one!

From viewtopic.php?f=37&t=75102. Didn't want to hijack the other thread entirely...

Deal appears to be dead despite the slickdeals forum saying it's good through 1/31. Tried with the U2211H and U3011.

Anyways, my order already shipped. Yes, I know IPS is superior and TN is a dirty word around here, but it honestly doesn't bother me (not trying to hijack this either, as that past survey had enough comments) and I got a what I feel is a good deal, $135 before tax ($190 - $40 - $15 EPP). If this coupon still worked, it would be ~50% more expensive, it's ~85% more w/o the coupon (it's $250 now). I would normally scoff at the difference (what's $100 over so many years?), but I'm not doing anything color/view angle sensitive. Maybe I'll get more desk space and opt for the 3011 some time in the future ;)

How does $179+tax sound, instead?

I have two U2311H's, picked em up for the $500AUD mark, and stuck on an extra $50 to get the 5 year warranty. Highly recommend them.

I bought a U2211H back in November for $180-something. I leave it as a vertical screen and plug some of my USB devices into it (e.g. headphones, but not storage devices). I pulled the cord by accident the other day and it came crashing down on my desk. Luckily, when I propped it back up and plugged it back in, it was fine.

Sure, no one was asking for a damn review, but someone else passing by might be interested in its reliability.
