Flash 10.2 WTH is this?

Fri Mar 11, 2011 12:26 am

I restarted my computer today and I get an adobe update for the latest version of flash. So I update and now when I watch youtube videos in HD (720p) it starts doin some weird motion blur and makes the videos look like crap. It doesn't do it in non-HD resolutions.

Any ideas or solutions?

This might sound weird and I could be completely wrong x1000. But see if your video card drivers have Anti ALiasing forced on. Turn it off and see if it changes anything.

I stumbled upon a problem where the Morphological AA in the ATI drivers was making my Java apps blurry (like water color, running ink blurry).....turning Morphological AA fix it.

try a reinstall
when the video is playing, right click in the center and under options turn off hardware acceleration
does this help?
if so try updating ur graphic card drivers

I dunno how to check if my drivers are forcing anti-aliasing.

And I went to check the settings but it's greyed out. I can't click it.

To give and idea what I'm talking about in terms of different image quality and the motion blur. I paused a video in 720p. I paused it in 480p at the same spot and doesn't do that blur/dual image stuff on me.

Edit: I was able to change the settings on a different flash website (newgrounds). I dunno why it wouldn't let me on Youtube. But I disabled hardware acceleration and now 720p works correctly. So it's my drivers that need updating then?

Just updated to the latest WHQL video card drivers (clean install) which came out in January and re-enabled hardware acceleration. Checked on 720p videos back on Youtube and it's STILL doing the motion blur/transitional type thing.

Which versions? Only FF4 and IE9 have hardware acceleration.

Flash uses hardware acceleration since 10.1 I think?

I've tried it in FF3.6, IE8, and FF4. All will do the same thing.

If the drivers came out in JAN then nothing has changed yet, 10.2 came out late FEB I think. You will just have to leave hardware acceleration off for now until Flash updates again or new nvidia drivers come out. don't worry, you will still live and survive this.

Well apart of January's release notes was...
'Supports GPU-acceleration for smoother online HD videos with Adobe Flash 10.1.'

I'm not sure what must have changed between 10.1 and 10.2, but it clearly looked over something. And yea I know i'll live... it's just kind of annoying.
