Sound card on Hackintosh

Hi. I have recently made a hackintosh but am unable to get sound working i would like to use my sound card rather than the on board on as i have 5.1 speakers, my sound card is a creative soundblaster 5.1 vx.

you mean the surround sound doesnt work?
I am pretty sure apple only runs stereo

Using VoodooHDA you can run pretty much any onboard codec in surround either via digital or analog. There's a feature in the preference pane to combine multiple jacks for surround output.

If you want an external 5.1 solution, look for Mac-only (or Mac-centric) devices like the Griffin Firewave.

Also, real Macs support 5.1 via a TOSLink cable, so it's not going to be a limitation of the OS, only of your hardware and the accompanying drivers.

Well, it's a free solution. There are 5.1 USB solutions, but I'd try VoodooHDA first and if it fails, then spend money.
