Video Ram reporting on 6970?

Postposted on Sat Apr 02, 2011 9:43 pm

I tried looking long ago and gave up, now with my 6970, again, I'm trying to find a tool that will report back the usage of the VRAM.

Anyone know of anything? Or is the driver not reporting that information?

Thanks.

I'm not sure whether it's an issue with hardware or software but GPU-Z doesn't seem to report VRAM load on the 69xx series. It may be more widespread than this, but I know it doesn't report the numbers for my 6950.

Get a new version? Cayman support was only added in 0.5.0. 0.5.2 adds 6990 support, so I would imagine it's a software problem on your side.

I doubt it; I'm using 0.5.1 and everything is reporting correctly, but there is no sensor listed at all for RAM usage. I haven't tried 0.5.2 but the release notes don't indicate that's changed. Plus I just skimmed through a thread on the GPU-Z forum which mentioned that AMD doesn't make these readings available to third party apps so the OP may be SOL.

EDIT: This is the thread/post I'm referring to. LINK

I'm using 0.5.2. No memory reporting. :(
